Toolkit for Spoonie Ambassadors
Fewer than 500 Spoon-billed Sandpipers are left in the wild, and each one is looking for an adopter. Every person you tell might adopt one. This page has ideas for how to help and everything you need to share: the video, social posts, a carousel, cover photos and a profile frame.
Pick one. Or pick several.
Give or ask for a Spoonie
- Ask for one for your birthday or another special occasion
- Give one as a present, or in someone's memory
- Make it a wedding favour or a company gift
Rally a group
- Run a birthday fundraiser on Facebook or Instagram
- Adopt as a club, office or scout troop
- Ask your employer to match your gift
Spread the word
- Add the Spoonie frame to your profile photo
- Share the video, carousel or a post
- Tell your local paper, radio or newsletter
Bring it to a school
- Adopt for a class or the whole school
- Give our kids' presentation, or pass it to a teacher
- Covers ecology, biology and geography
Keep it going
- Take the Flyway Challenge: walk, run or cycle for sponsors
- Pass this page on to three people
Everything you need to share
Download any image, copy a caption, and post it. Always include the adoption link: internationalconservationfund.org/spoonie
The Adopt a Spoonie film
Share it in your feed or Stories, or play it before a talk. Download it from Google Drive to post it natively, since uploaded videos get more reach than links.

“Ask me about Spoonies”
Add the frame to your profile photo so friends ask you about the campaign. It takes a minute, and your photo never leaves your device.
